Wednesday, 25th April 2012 01:09AMMartin Sheridan Fr Lehane was a true gentleman. I remember my first meeting him in Rockwell, in the junior Refectory (I think it was September 1969). His task was to greet every Boy and ask our names during lunch. This took him about 40 minutes to get around to every table.
Incredibly, he returned the next day at lunch and talked to each and all of us , in turn, and greeted us by our first names.
Aidan Lehane CSSp was a unique man, may he rest in peace.

Thursday, 11th August 2011 02:47PMBarry Mahon For me a very definite end of an era. I was a pupil of Aidan's when he was a prefect in St. Mary's in the early 50s!! He was doing his H.Dip and his supervisor was a friend of my fathers who knew me well, made for rather strange classroom practise supervision!! Afterwards he arrived in Rockwell when I was in my last year or maybe the second last. To be honest he was a little 'wet behind the ears' as a Dean of Discipline but was a fast learner!! Much later I renewed acquaintance with him when he married Nuala and I in 1968. We met fairly regularly at the Rockwell reunions prior to the Freance - Ireland match in Paris. A man a many talents - I remember him playing for St Marys in Landsdowne Rd., and always interested to discuss the latest developments in life in general whenever we met. He was a good friend and good fun. May he rest in peace
